U.S. Duty-Free Threshold Ending Aug 29: What to Expect
Share
Last updated: August 28, 2025
What’s happening
The United States is suspending the de minimis duty-free threshold for most low-value imports at 12:01 a.m. ET on August 29, 2025. Shipments that enter the U.S. on or after that time may be charged duties and taxes. (Source: White House)
What this means for you
Expect duties/taxes at delivery. For goods shipped from Japan (currently all of our products), the U.S.–Japan framework sets a baseline 15% tariff rate; final charges are assessed at entry by the carrier/U.S. Customs. (Source: White House)
Typical timing: Our average shipping time to U.S. entry is about a week, but timing varies by route and carrier.
Our commitment to price clarity
We’re actively improving how we display costs to increase price transparency (e.g., clearer duty/tax estimates at checkout and in order confirmations). We’ll update this page as policies evolve.
Quick definitions
De minimis (U.S.): The duty-free threshold that previously allowed many low-value imports to enter without tariffs. It is suspended starting Aug 29, 2025.
