Edo Glass – Medium

Designed by French designer Flavien Delbergue, this vessel was created specifically for enjoying sake. Sake is born from Japan’s rich natural blessings—rice, water, soil, and the changing seasons. With “gratitude for nature’s bounty” as its theme, the design draws inspiration from the gesture of cupping pure spring water in both hands, as well as the beauty of traditional Japanese rituals of offering and drinking omiki (sacred sake). The name Ryote—meaning “both hands”—reflects not only this imagery, but also the belief that both sake-making and glass-making are crafts shaped by the hands of people.
