The name "Flag Towel" was inspired by the term "flagship." This is our most basic and standard signature towel, crafted to allow you to experience the reliable quality of Fujitaka, known as the "technical Fujitaka," on a daily basis. To ensure it becomes a favorite for daily use by many, we achieved top-notch quality in the fundamental aspects of a towel, such as absorbency, texture, and durability. The comfort that exceeds its price becomes evident when you use it, made possible by the technical expertise we have cultivated over more than 100 years since our founding. If you are new to Fujitaka towels, we encourage you to start with this one. The raw cotton for the Flag Towel is a custom order made by visiting India, and the selected variety is Shankar 6. This cotton has fibers of moderate length and is particularly suitable for towels among the many types of cotton in the world. What Fujitaka paid particular attention to was the method of picking the cotton and the selection process after harvest. All the cotton used for the Flag Towel is handpicked during the second pick. Compared to the first pick, it has finer and softer fibers. Unlike mechanical harvesting, handpicking ensures that immature cotton is not mixed in. Moreover, for the Flag Towel, we have entrusted the selection of the best cotton to a "cotton sommelier," known as the "god of cotton." These experts, who can discern quality just by touch, meticulously select the cotton for us. When people hear about towel production, they might first imagine weaving looms. However, the creation of high-quality towels starts with attention to the yarn, even before weaving. For example, the yarn for the Flag Towel is an original thread, spun by twisting two coarse threads together while removing excess fluff during the spinning process. This unique yarn, made exclusively for the Flag Towel, is strong yet adequately soft. Thanks to this yarn, we were able to weave a towel that has minimal fluff, lasts long, remains resilient even after washing, doesn't stiffen easily, and maintains excellent absorbency—achieving top marks in every aspect.

Care Guide

〇 Before Use - It is recommended to rinse new towels with water before first use for a more comfortable experience. - Some lint may come off initially, but this will reduce after a few washes. *Excludes towels made of untwisted yarn. - Long-term storage in an unused state may cause discoloration. 〇 Washing Instructions - We recommend washing with a cycle that uses a large amount of water. - Drum-type washing machines clean by beating laundry with minimal water, which may cause the pile to become stiff. For drum-type machines, using the drying function can help achieve a fluffier finish. - Avoid washing with items that have zippers or hook-and-loop fasteners, as these may snag the pile. 〇 Choosing Detergent - Avoid using detergents with fluorescent agents or chlorine-based bleach, as they may cause discoloration. - Refrain from using fabric softeners, as they may reduce the towel’s absorbency. Use fabric softener only for older towels that have become stiff over time. 〇 Spin-Drying and Drying - Prolonged spin-drying may crush the pile and make the towel stiff. - Leaving towels unattended after spin-drying may cause the pile to harden in a flattened state, so hang them promptly. - Strong sunlight can cause discoloration and stiffness, so dry towels in a well-ventilated, shaded area. - Leaving towels wet can lead to odors, mold, and bacterial growth, so take care to dry them promptly. 〇 To Maintain Volume - To keep your towels soft and fluffy, hold both ends of the towel and shake it gently to restore its shape before hanging it to dry. Shaking the towel in the air will help the fibers stand up, resulting in a fluffier finish. 〇 Storage Instructions - Store towels in a fluffy state, avoiding compression as much as possible. - As towels tend to absorb moisture, store them in a well-ventilated area. 〇 If the Pile is Snagged - Towels are delicate fabrics and may get snagged by nails or other objects. - If the pile becomes stretched, trim it at the base with scissors, taking care not to damage the towel’s foundation. - If the hem or edges become frayed, sewing over the area with a machine can prevent further fraying.
