A refined platinum cup with a stable design that is easy to hold. This cup, which is stable and easy to handle, can be used for shochu, tea, coffee, or anything else. The sides are slightly indented, making it easy to grip and adding to its stability. "Malette" is the French word for a mallet, and the cup is named after its shape. This versatile cup is suitable for shochu, tea, coffee, and more. The shaping of the base material is done using a technique called "mizukote," where clay is placed into a plaster mold, rotated, and shaped by smoothing with a trowel and water. This method is mainly suitable for forming circular items such as rice bowls, teacups, cups, and plates, and requires the skilled craftsmanship of artisans. After that, the piece is dried and trimmed to refine its shape. For porcelain, the final shaping is done through trimming, which is a crucial process requiring advanced skills. The finished base is then bisque-fired at 920°C for two days, and an original glaze is individually applied with a brush before being reduction-fired at 1,300°C over three days. Finally, platinum is applied as an overglaze decoration and fired at 800°C to complete the product.
