Amidst the pitch-black expanse of space, various meteorites collided to form the Earth. At Arita Porcelain Lab, we interpret the color of "beginning" as "black," and have conducted years of research to express this jet black.
As a result, we have achieved a refined and sophisticated black, along with a pearl gray that represents the steam rising above the magma ocean.
Please enjoy this black that complements tableware of various colors, serving as the foundation like the universe itself.
The modern-shaped free cup features ridges that provide a comfortable grip, making it easy to hold. It is versatile and can be used for beer, iced coffee, and more.
The shaping of the base material is done using a technique called "mizukote," where clay is placed into a plaster mold, rotated, and smoothed with tools and water. This method is primarily suited for forming circular items such as rice bowls, teacups, cups, and plates, requiring the skilled craftsmanship of artisans.
After drying, the base is trimmed to refine its shape.
In porcelain production, the final trimming is a crucial step to define the shape, requiring expert skills.
The shaped material is then bisque-fired at 920°C over two days, after which a unique glaze is applied individually with a brush. Finally, it undergoes a reduction firing at 1300°C over three days.
