At Arita Porcelain Lab, we interpreted the color of the beginning as "black" and have been conducting research for many years to express this jet black. As a result, we have created an elegant, mature black and a pearl gray that represents the water vapor rising above the magma ocean. Please take this opportunity to experience this black, which pairs beautifully with various colorful tableware that forms the base, much like the universe itself. The modernly shaped rice bowl features ridges that provide a comfortable grip, fitting well in your hand. The shaping of the clay is carried out using a technique called "Mizukote," where clay is poured into a plaster mold, rotated, and smoothed with a trowel while using water. This method is particularly suited for forming circular items such as rice bowls, teacups, mugs, and plates, requiring the skilled craftsmanship of artisans. After drying, the pieces are trimmed to refine their shape. In porcelain production, trimming is an essential process that defines the final shape, requiring advanced expertise. The shaped pieces are then bisque-fired at 920°C over two days. Each is carefully hand-glazed with a unique glaze using a brush and undergoes reduction firing at 1300°C over three days.
