The shaping of the base material is done using a technique called "Mizukote," where clay is placed into a plaster mold, rotated, and smoothed with water and a spatula. This method is particularly suitable for forming circular items like rice bowls, teacups, cups, and plates, requiring the skilled craftsmanship of artisans. Afterward, the clay is dried and then trimmed to refine its shape. Since shaping porcelain relies on this final trimming process, it is a crucial step that demands expert skills. The shaped material is bisque-fired at 920°C over two days, then coated individually with a unique glaze using a brush. Finally, it is reduction-fired at 1300°C over three days, completing the process.
