A refined platinum small bowl that can also be used as a rice bowl. This versatile small bowl can be used as a rice bowl, for side dishes like ohitashi, as a soup bowl, or even as a dessert bowl. It is a simple and modern Arita ware small bowl, perfect in size for use as a rice bowl. Its size fits comfortably in the hand, making it ideal not only for side dishes like ohitashi, nimono, or aemono but also as a small soup or dessert bowl. It is a versatile piece that can elevate even a simple vegetable ohitashi into a proper dish.
The shaping of the material is done using a technique called "mizukote," where clay is placed into a plaster mold, rotated, and smoothed with a trowel while using water to form the shape. This method is mainly suitable for forming circular items like rice bowls, teacups, cups, and plates and requires skilled craftsmanship. After shaping, the piece is left to dry and then trimmed to refine its shape. For porcelain, the final trimming process is crucial as it determines the final form, requiring expert skill in this important step.
The dried piece is then bisque-fired at 920°C over two days. A unique glaze is applied individually with a brush and fired in a reduction atmosphere at 1300°C over three days. Finally, platinum decoration is applied as an overglaze and fired at 800°C to complete the piece.
