A refined matte white porcelain nine-sun plate. It can be used as a serving plate or as a main dish plate for individual servings in restaurants. A plate with a diameter of 27 cm is called a nine-sun plate and is a versatile plate that can be used as a serving dish. Its impressive presence makes it commonly used for individual main dishes in restaurants. The shaping of the material is done using a method called "Mizukote," where clay is placed into a plaster mold and rotated while smoothing the material with water and a spatula. This method is mainly suitable for shaping circular items such as rice bowls, teacups, cups, and plates, requiring the skilled craftsmanship of artisans. Afterward, the piece is dried and trimmed to refine its shape. In porcelain-making, the final trimming to shape the piece is a vital step requiring expert skill. The shaped material is then bisque-fired at 920°C for two days, and an original glaze is individually applied with a brush. It is then reduction-fired at 1300°C for three days to complete the process. The result is a white porcelain that evokes Japan’s powdered snow. It expresses the beauty of the white hue without applying glaze. This is achieved by skilled artisans who brush on the glaze, which is blended using a closely guarded technique passed down at the Yazaemon Kiln. The beauty of this white porcelain, reminiscent of Japan’s powdered snow, is renowned worldwide.
