A teapot with a 600ml capacity for four people, designed by Kiyoyuki Okuyama, renowned for his Ferrari designs. Characterized by its indescribably beautiful curves. The shaping of the material involves a forming method called "slip casting," where a liquid clay mixture called "slip" is poured into a plaster mold, which absorbs the moisture from the slip, causing it to adhere to the mold. Once the desired thickness is achieved, the remaining slip is drained, dried, and removed from the mold. This method is particularly suitable for creating hollow, bag-shaped vessels such as teapots, vases, and ornaments. Afterward, parts like the spout are attached using clay as an adhesive. The drying condition of the material and the alignment of cross-sectional shapes must be precise to avoid cracking during firing, requiring skilled craftsmanship. The dried material is then trimmed to refine its shape. Porcelain ultimately gets its form through this trimming process, which is another critical step requiring expert skills. The finished material is bisque-fired at 920°C over two days, followed by the application of a unique glaze individually brushed on each piece, and then reduction-fired at 1300°C over three days. Traditional Ko-Imari floral patterns are expressed in black and platinum. The motif features bats, considered auspicious since "fortune" and "bat" are homophones in Chinese, symbolizing wealth. It is a design of good fortune. This auspicious pattern is used unchanged, while the colors are modernized with black and platinum. Auspicious patterns have been widely used in Arita porcelain by past artisans, aiming to enrich the lives of users both materially and spiritually. We hope to deliver this sentiment to people worldwide through these wares. Finally, overglaze decoration is applied and fired at 800°C to complete the product.
