Based in Mizusawa, Iwate Prefecture—a hub for traditional Japanese ironware—Kukan Chuzou is celebrated for its simple, modern designs that seamlessly blend with contemporary lifestyles.

Crafted using the ancient namagata casting method, this teapot showcases the raw, earthy texture of iron. The gentle, rounded form and the sharp lines of the handle create a visually striking balance. The interior is coated with enamel to prevent rust, ensuring both beauty and practicality.

About the Artist: Hisao Iwashimizu Born in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture in 1964, Hisao Iwashimizu has been involved in the world of cast iron since 1989. His work, characterized by its simple yet elegant forms, has been exhibited in renowned venues such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In 2009, he established Kukan Chuzou, a foundry dedicated to creating contemporary ironware.
