This wooden lacquerware bowl is part of the Urushi Bowl “KYONONA” series, inspired by Kyoto’s iconic vegetables known as Kyō-yasai. This particular design takes its motif from the Shōgoin Turnip, a traditional Kyoto turnip.
The bowl’s gentle curves and distinctive coloring faithfully reflect the turnip’s unique character, achieved through expert lacquer techniques and wheel-turning craftsmanship. It brings a warm, Kyoto-like charm to your everyday dining table.
The design is by Kazushige Miyake (miyake design), a renowned designer known for his work with MUJI and other product designs.
It is available in three colors: the turnip-like white, classic black, and traditional vermilion red.
Not only ideal for miso soup, this versatile bowl can also be used for serving rice or as a small serving dish. Its charming, Kyoto-inspired design brings warmth and joy to your daily dining experience.
