This single-stem vase is crafted from a base of Karatsu-style clay, finished with a slip made from carefully selected Amakusa porcelain clay, and adorned with hand-painted underglaze and overglaze decoration.
Slipware—a technique developed by artisans of the past who longed for white ceramics when white clay was scarce—adds a soft, refined texture to the piece.

The gently shaped form, created on the potter’s wheel, and the interplay between the earthy tones of the clays lend a unique warmth to the piece. Each hand-painted design has its own subtle character, making every vase one of a kind.
From the materials and techniques to the final brushwork, every detail is thoughtfully and skillfully finished.
